are very aware that there are very many poor families in
the Kimilili area, many made poorer by AIDS.
A number of children live with grand mothers or aunts in
very poor family units and to help these The Kimilili Trust
has helped and encouraged the formation of a local committee
of Kimilili townspeople. This committee uses animals, the
purchase of which has been sponsored by the Kimilili Trust,
to assist poverty stricken families and has purchased cows,
sheep and chickens. The system which appears to be working
best is to lend three chickens to a family. These chickens
then produce eggs three of which are hatched and the hatchlings
returned to the committee to grow on for another family.
We call this project Revolving Chickens.
